SCHOLARSHIPS/GRANTS
All privileges are applicable only during the 1st and 2nd Semesters, subject to renewal every term.
Each beneficiary may avail himself of only one scholarship (School-Based, Government or Non-Government) at a time except full payment discount. A student-beneficiary who has graduated under a W.I.T. scholarship program is disqualified from availment of another W.I.T. scholarship.
Deadline for application shall be thirty (30) days from official schedule of first day of classes.
A. School-Based
1. Entrance Scholarships
Applicant fills out application form from Head, Committee on Scholarships è Head, Committee on Scholarships for endorsement è Accounting Office for encoding of discount è Dean, Student Affairs for approval
High School Valedictorians and Salutatorians are entitled to one year and one semester free tuition respectively, upon admission to the college level. They should submit a certification duly signed by their Principal stating that they are valedictorians/salutatorians of a graduating class of at least 15 students during a particular school year.
2. Resident/Academic Scholarships
Applicant fills out application form from Head, Committee on Scholarships è Dean/Department Head for recommendation è Accounting Office for encoding of discount è Head, Committee on Scholarships for endorsement è Dean, Student Affairs for approval
For all Collegiate Programs, students carrying 15 academic units or more, who obtain a weighted average of 1.0 to 1.5 with no grade lower than 2.0 are awarded free tuition in the following semester.
For Engineering, including BS Mar E and BSA, those who obtain a weighted average of 1.6 to 2.0 with no grade lower than 2.5 are granted 50% tuition fee discount in the following semester.
For Non-Engineering, AB English, AB PolSci, BS Major in Biology, BS Major in Computer Education, BSHRM, BSBA, BSOA and BSIT, those who obtain a weighted average of 1.6 to 2.0 with no grade lower than 2.0 are granted 50% tuition fee discount in the following semester.
The Department Head’s and Dean’s Offices initiate the processing of this scholarship. Qualified students must see their Head and Dean before enrollment. Grades in the final examination permit should tally with the official grades submitted to the Registrar’s Office.
Final grades of NC (NA or Dropped) or “5.0” automatically disqualify the student from the scholarship. All INC grades should be completed before the start of the next semester.
3. Athletic Scholarships
Applicant fills out application form from Head, Committee on Scholarships è Coach and Athletic Director for recommendation è Accounting Office for encoding of discount è Head, Committee on Scholarships for endorsement è Dean, Student Affairs for approval
For all Sports represented in the PRISAA, ISSA, except for Table Tennis & Chess which are subject to the result of performance, the athlete should have no failing grade or must comply with eligibility requirements of the tournament and be recommended by the Coach to the Athletic Director for approval.
Failure to continue the scholarship program is subject to repayment of all benefits granted from the start of the program.
4. Poor-But-Deserving Student (PBDS)
Subject to availability of slot, application form is obtained from the Office of the School President.
Applicant fills out application form è Dean/Department Head for recommendation è Head, Committee on Scholarships for screening/endorsement è School President for approval è Accounting Office for discount
For incoming freshmen only, the student should have no weighted average lower than 85% and be recommended by the Dean to the President for approval. The course load of the scholar should not be less than fifteen (15) units. The privilege shall be at the discretion of the School President. Application for this privilege is renewable every semester.
New applicants (additional requirements):
a. Photocopy of Form 138 (High School Report Card) or F137-A (Secondary Student’s Permanent Record)
b. Income Tax Return/W2 of Parent or Certificate of Tax Exemption from the BIR
Renewal:
a. Submission of PBDS Forms duly recommended by the Department Head/Dean
b. No grades of NC (NA or Dropped) or “5.0”. Report of College ratings shall be duly signed by the Registrar.
1. Student Assistantship Program
a. Work Schedule
Office – Four (4) continuous hours
Laboratory – based on continuous laboratory schedule
b. Course Schedule shall be 8 hours per day less Work Schedule.

Applicant submits Application Letter and requirements* to Coordinator, Student Assistantship Program è Takes qualifying exam è Coordinator, Student Assistantship Program for work assignment è Takes tentative schedule of courses from Department Head è Reports to Coordinator, Student Assistantship Program, and fills out privilege form è Serviced Dean/Department Head/Office Head for recommendation è Coordinator, Student Assistantship Program for approval è Reports to assigned office for duty è Submits Daily Time Record monthly, duly signed by Department Head/Dean/Office Head, to Comptroller

Applicants must pass a qualifying exam given by the Coordinator, Student Assistantship Program. Student assistants are credited for every hour’s work.
Renewal:
Receives work assignment from Serviced Department/Office Head è Takes tentative schedule of courses from Department Head è Reports to Coordinator, Student Assistantship Program, and fills out privilege form è Serviced Dean/Department Head/Office Head for recommendation è Coordinator, Student Assistantship Program for approval è Reports to assigned office for duty
The Student Assistant must have no failing grade and must have at least a “Satisfactory” rating in the Performance Evaluation.
B. Government
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP); Department of Science and Technology (DOST); Veterans; Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA); Skills Enhancement & Educational Development for Students (SEEDS-Jollibee/DOLE); Special Study Grant Program – Congressional District (SSGP); Mayor’s Scholarship Program; State Scholarship Program (SSP); and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) programs like: National Integration Study Grant Program (NISGP), PESFA (Private Education Student Financial Assistance Program), Regional Scholarship Program (RSP), Student Assistance Fund for Education (SAFE), and SNPL (Study Now Pay Later)
C. Non-Government
WITAA, Inc., Professional Organizations, Private Benefactors and Foundations and other Scholarships/Grants.
II. DISCOUNTS

A. Tuition Discount on Full Payment of School Fees
A 10% discount on Tuition Fees is given to students who pay in full based upon the total current assessment within 30 days from the official first day of enrollment. To avail himself of the discount, the student must accomplish the Cash Discount Form from the Accounting Department.
B. Stockholder’s Discount*
Free tuition privilege is given to the stockholder, his/her spouse and or his children, owning at least 200 shares of Western Institute of Technology, Inc. Capital Stock acquired on or before March 31, 1986. Application forms are available at the Accounting Department which determines the discount.
C. Family Discount
Photocopies of NSO birth certificates of concerned students are required.
2 brothers/sisters enrolled – 10% discount on the lower tuition assessment
3 brothers/sisters enrolled – 30% discount on the lowest tuition assessment; and
10 % on the 2nd lowest tuition assessment
4 or more enrolled- 50% discount on the lowest tuition assessment;
30% discount on the 2nd lowest tuition assessment; and
10% discount on the 3rd lowest tuition assessment
D. Employees’ Discount*
Resolution No. 20, s. 1998 of the Board of Trustees grants scholarship to full-time employees of W.I.T., their spouse and children studying at W.I.T., as follows:
(a) 50% tuition discount- for employees with less than two years of service.
(b) Free tuition and laboratory fees – for employees with two or more years of service.
*Courses with failing grades, Dropped or NC shall have their tuition and laboratory fees paid by the student prior to the next enrollment.
