Military Perhaps most people would wonder that this year 2007, a Mechanical Engineer is an alumnus in the field of military no other than in the person of Engr. Irving M. Malunda whose profession chosen is to serve the interest of the public in general instead of practicing his profession as a Mechanical Engineer. His Rank is Police Director and designated as Deputy Inspector General last July 11, 2005 to the present. He was happily married to Ms. Zenaida Borromeo Malunda whom they were blessed with three children namely Nathalia 25, Chivas Anton 22 and Kent 13. A bemedalled officer for his outstanding service and performance as a policeman made him deserve all the promotions he acquired since he started his job as 2nd Lieutenant in the Philippine National Police. Public Service The humble and big-hearted mayor of Cabatuan is this year’s outstanding alumnus in the field of public service. At his young age of 37 he became mayor of his native town. His excellent performance is tested and proven by his meritorious citations and awards received both local and national. It is no wonder why he was awarded as “Most Outstanding Mayor of the Philippines in 2003 and Most Outstanding Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer in the Philippines for 2006”. These two coveted awards were among the varied awards he had received since then.
